Enjoy the flavors of Kung Pao Tofu, a classic Chinese dish with crispy tofu cubes, stir-fried with bell peppers, peanuts, and ginger in a savory, slightly spicy sauce.
01
Remove excess water from tofu. Once dried, cut the tofu into cubes.
02
In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, vinegar, cornstarch, sugar, and water. Set aside.
03
Heat oil in pan. Add tofu cubes and fry until all sides are golden brown. Set aside.
04
In the same pan, add remaining oil. Add dried red chilies, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until aromatic.
05
Add the bell peppers and stir-fry for a few minutes until they start to soften but are still crisp.
06
Add fried tofu to the pan. Add the Kung Pao sauce over the tofu and vegetables. Simmer.
07
Stir in the green onions and roasted peanuts. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice.
- Toast the dried red chilies in the oil briefly before adding the garlic and ginger. - Dissolve cornstarch completely in the sauce mixture before adding it to the pan.
