Gouda Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

– Macaroni – Butter – Onion – All purpose flour – Mustard powder – Whole milk – Gouda cheese – Cheddar cheese – Gouda cheese

Step 1

Start by preheating the oven to 375˚F. Grease a 9” skillet with cooking spray and butter.

Step 2

Add salt to a large pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook macaroni until al dente (according to package directions) and drain. Set aside.

Step 3

Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent (about 5 minutes).

Step 4

Stir in the flour, mustard powder, pepper, and salt. Let the flour cook for 1 minute, stirring often.

Step 5

Slowly pour in milk, stirring or whisking continuously, and cook until thickened. Add in the shredded cheeses and stir until melted.

Step 6

Remove from heat. Stir in the drained pasta. Transfer the macaroni to the prepared baking dish.

Step 7

Top with remaining cheese in an even layer. Bake for 20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
