Bring lentils, turmeric, and water to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Drain and save some of the water.


Toast cumin seeds in ghee, add onions, green chili, and tomatoes. Add all dal base spices, cook for 3-5 minutes. Add it to the lentils and cook for 5 minutes.

Make tadka by melting ghee and adding cumin and mustard seeds, then add chili powder and mix together. Pour over dal.

Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot. ENJOY!
