Use a sieve to sift the dry ingredients together.

Shred the butter

Shred cold butter and fold into the dry ingredients.

Make dough

Add cold buttermilk slowly to the flour mixture to make sure that the dough is evenly hydrated.

Add Cheddar Cheese

Shred your cheddar cheese and add this shredded cheese to the dough. Gently fold until it comes together.

Make the biscuits

Empty your dough on the work surface. Flatten this dough gently, fold the sides in, and then flatten again.

Cut the biscuits

Place biscuit cutter on the dough and push straight down.

Make the topping

Prepare a mix of the butter and garlic, and brush the biscuits with the melted butter mixture.


Pop them into the oven and bake them for about 20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
