The Origin Story

I started Urban Farmie in 2020, when I was missing the joy of feeding friends and family. Before that โ€” back at Stanford โ€” I hosted weekly dinners, and cooking has always been my love language. When the world shut down, this blog became a new way to share that love.

What began as a personal project turned into a true food business. I still develop, photograph, and test each recipe myself (at least three times), with my carnivorous husband and toddler serving as brutally honest taste-testers.

Today I live in Seattle, but my kitchen is shaped by the flavors that raised me โ€” from the kitchari of my childhood in India to the jollof rice my husband swears by. Urban Farmie brings those global influences into approachable, everyday vegetarian cooking.
